11 March 2026
Operation CALYPSO 2, led by the World Customs Organization (WCO) for the second consecutive year, addressed the escalating threats of firearms trafficking and drug smuggling across the Caribbean Region. Conducted over a three‑week period, the operation resulted in significant seizures of illicit weapons and narcotics, disrupting organised criminal networks and contributing to enhanced regional security.
Running from 24 November to 12 December 2025, Operation CALYPSO 2 focused on strengthening the vital role of Customs administrations in safeguarding borders. The initiative emphasised close cooperation with national, regional, and international law enforcement partners to improve intelligence sharing, identify trafficking routes, and support coordinated enforcement actions.
Key outcomes of Operation CALYPSO 2 included the following:
- More than 500 seizures recorded throughout the operation, underscoring the essential role of Customs in protecting societies from transnational crime.
- A notable increase in the trafficking of military-style assault rifles, reflected in a significant number of weapons-related interdictions.
- Enhanced regional collaboration among WCO Members in the Caribbean, which successfully prevented 119 firearms and 332 firearm components from reaching organised crime groups.
Operation CALYPSO 2 highlights the continued commitment of Customs and law enforcement partners to counter illicit trafficking and strengthen the security and resilience of the Caribbean Region.
