CARICOM IMPACS has issued a critical warning regarding an increase in deceptive tactics used by criminals to hijack WhatsApp accounts. This specific scam involves solicitors posing as trusted entities, such as delivery agents, support staff, or even personal friends, to trick users into sharing their unique six-digit verification codes. Once a user provides this code, they are locked out of their own account, allowing scammers to impersonate them and target their contacts with further phishing links or fraudulent requests.
